A Christian Name for YiQing

We have finally decided to name our baby girl Rosalie after Saint Rosalia of Palermo whose Feast Day is on Sep 4. Gabriel was fond of ‘Tagalong Allie’ the mouse from ‘The 7 Habits of Happy Kids’. As for me T-Square’s album ‘Welcome to the Rose Garden’ was my favorite in my car. So I thought, “Why not ‘Rosalie’?”. Anyway Ying thought it was sort of a tongue twister for some. Ying did some search and found that Saint Rosalia’s feast day is on Sep 4, very close to YiQing’s birthday. So that’s how it was decided.

I am proud to announce the birth of our second child, YiQing. Our baby girl was born on 9-Sep-2010, 8:47am by Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS). She weighed 3.25kg and measured 50cm at birth. About 4 hours after birth, I received a call from the paediatrician. YiQing was diagnosed with Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn (TTN). Her breath rate was abnormally high (> 60 breaths per minute) due to presence of fluid in her lungs. She needs to take extra effort in order to get enough oxygen. Fortunately, her oxygenation was adequate, so there was no need to supply additional oxygen. Her X-ray showed some streaks indicating possible infection. She was given antibiotics. Her condition improved the next day and was taking feeds. She was given a clean bill of health on 15-Sep after her bilirubin level was down to 160µmol/l.
